BMKG Describes Hail Rain in Jakarta

Hail is a natural phenomenon that commonly occurs. In addition to heavy rain (ice), this phenomenon is also accompanied by lightning or lightning and short winds.

The phenomenon of hail that falls today is often said to occur during the transition period, either from the dry season to the rainy season or vice versa.



Through official information, BMKG explained that there were a number of indications of the occurrence of hail with a short duration. Some of these indications include:

- One day before the air at night until the morning feels hot and hot.

- The air is hot and hot due to strong solar radiation indicated by the difference in air temperature between 10:00 and 07:00 LT (more than 4.5 ° C) accompanied by high humidity indicated by the value of air humidity in the layer of 700 mb (more than 60 of)

- Starting at 10:00 a.m., it appears that Cumulus clouds (white clouds are layered), among these clouds, there is one type of cloud that has a very clear edge gray, towering like a cauliflower.


- The next stage of the cloud will quickly change color to gray / black, known as Cb cloud (Cumulonimbus).

- Trees around the stands are branches or twigs that begin to sway rapidly.

- There is a touch of cold air around the stand.

- Usually the first rain that falls is heavy rain suddenly, when the rain drizzle, the occurrence of strong winds is far from our place.

- If in one to three consecutive days there is no rain in the transition or transition season or rainy season, then there is an indication of the potential for heavy rain which first falls followed by good winds which fall into the category of tornado or not.
